Analysis of Mercury in Marine Fishes and Canned Tunas

Marine fishes were sampling from the retail market and Fish Marketing Organization. There are 24 species. They are green muscle, baby clam, bloody clam, threadfin bream, chub mackerel , Spanishmackerel, sea pike, Melabarred snapper, flat fish, hairtial cutlass, half mouvning six banded coral cod, white pomfret,Indian halibut, sand whiting, John’s snapper , giant perch scad, mullet, fourfingerthreadfin, painted sweetlip, Chinese herring, black kingfish . The sample were sampling from February 14 , 1984 unit August 15, 1984. The analysis ofmercury content in marine fishes are 0.0065 – 0.498 ppm. The average of mercury content examinedis 0.051 ppm. The mercury of black king frishand fourfinger threadfin are 0.132 ppm and0.498 ppm respectively, canned tunas were sampling from the four canned fish factories during November 1983 unit September 1984. There are 134 Samples. The range of mercury content is 0.002 – 0.386 ppm and the average of mercury content in canned is 0.041 ppm.
