บทคัดย่อ

Studies of Chinese bayberry fruits on some physiological characters during the storage.

The physiological characteristics of Chinese bayberry (Myrica rubra) fruits, stored at 21 plus or minus 1, 11 plus or minus 1 deg C or 1 plus or minus 1 deg C, were observed. The respiratory rate, ethylene production, POD [peroxidase] and PG [polygalacturonase] activities, and soluble pectin and cellulose contents during storage were determined. At 21 plus or minus 1 deg C, the fruits showed some physiological characters of a respiratory climacteric, such as high rates of respiration and ethylene production. The POD and PG activities were closely related to the senescence of Chinese bayberry fruits, but cellulase activity may not be a major factor.
