บทคัดย่อ

Pesticide use and residues in stored grains in the Philippines.

A review of current practices in storage and pest management of grains (mainly rice and maize) in the Philippines is presented. Chemical control remains to be a major weapon in combating pest infestation, a persistent source of loss in grain storage. The most commonly used pesticides are described and the implications of pesticide usage in food and feed commodities are discussed. There is a dearth of information available on the extent of pesticide residues contaminating treated grains. Recommendations are outlined to address this serious concern.
