Effects of black-inhibitor for controlling black heart disease in pineapple.

In a study on the effects of black-inhibitor for the control of pineapple blackheart disorder, pineapples were spayed with the black-inhibitor No.0, No.1 and No.2 alone or in combination, one month before harvest. 16-30 fruits were sampled from each of the treatments and stored at room temperature. After 11 and 20 days in storage, the fruits were sampled and examined for blackheart incidence. Fruits treated with black-inhibitor No.1 and No.2 had no blackheart incidence after 12 days, 0-20% incidence after 14 days and 10-30% incidence after 20 days; this was significantly lower than the 20-100% incidence in the controls. The black-inhibitor also showed a positive effect on the quality of the treated fruits.
