Qualitative and technological aspects of the fruit of diverse strawberry varieties at harvest and after conservation.

During 1994-96, a total of 37 cultivars were evaluated (9 of which were tested every year) for fruit weight, resistance to compression, firmness and skin colour at harvest and after storage (3 days at 4 deg C + 1 day at room temperature). Fruits were also analysed for chemical composition and storability. Results indicated that postharvest performance was best in Idea, Linda, Elsanta, Marmolada, Miss, Pajaro, Addie, Mara des Bois and Nike.
