Effect of pre- and post-harvest treatments on the keeping quality of banana.

From the start of flowering, plants were sprayed 3 times with carbendazim (1000 mg/litre) with or without the surfactant Y2-921 (200 mg/litre; produced in China) at 15-day intervals. After harvest, fruits were soaked in a solution containing 500 mg Tekduo and 250 mg Shibaogong/litre (produced in Germany [no details given]) for 3 minutes before packing in PVC bags containing ethylene absorbent and storing at room temperature (24 plus or minus 2 deg C). The carbendazim + surfactant treatment greatly reduced the occurrence of diseases, and the postharvest treatment reduced the occurrence of bitter rot and improved keeping quality.
