บทคัดย่อ

Cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants.

More than 50 medicinal and aromatic plant species are grown in Romania, and the trends are towards increasing cultivation. This book is intended for agronomists, pharmacists and botanists, as well as for students and those interested in cultivating these plant species. Factors (biological, ecological and technological) affecting the production and quality of medicinal and aromatic plants are discussed in a preliminary chapter. The main body of the book comprises 2-page, illustrated monographs on 69 species, each providing brief details of plant morphology, the crude product for which it is grown, cultivars, site factors, fertilization, sowing/planting, crop management, harvesting and postharvest handling. Tables at the end of this section list the chemical composition and uses, quality requirements, purity and germination of seeds and germination requirements of each species. Plants cultivated for other purposes, but which are also used medicinally, are listed (cereals, grain legumes, oilseeds,

fibre plants, hops and tobacco, root crops, fodder crops, vegetables, trees, fruit trees/shrubs and vines).
