Grain drying in China: problems and priorities.

China's annual grain harvest of 425-450 million tonnes includes a large proportion (approx. 30 million tonnes) that is received at high moisture content. Grain drying is the most important factor in minimizing postharvest losses, since it directly affects safe storage, transportation, distribution, and processing quality. Currently, considerable losses are incurred annually during storage and transportation of grain, as a result of inadequate drying. The current status of the problem is outlined.
