บทคัดย่อ

Outdoor storage of grain in sealed plastic enclosures.

 

A study was conducted at Pistola, Oas, Albay, Philippines to assess the suitability of nylon reinforced plastic PVC enclosures of 0.6 m thickness for temporary outdoor storage of bagged paddy rice. The rice was stored for 109 days, from 25 February to 14 June 1995.There were no significant losses during storage due to pests (weevils, rats) or diseases. The price paid for paddy rice increased from P6.00/kg in February to P8.00/kg in June. Moisture content remained at 14% during storage. The plastic sheet is reusable for 3-5 years, provided it is carefully cleaned and safely stored after each use. This technology is suitable for use by small traders/millers and cooperatives and also community groups and large farmers.
