Latent infections in the pre- and postharvest environment.

ABSTRACT

Latent infections of fruits and vegetables in the pre- and postharvest environment are discussed under the following headings: mechanisms of quiescence, implications of quiescence in disease control, prophylaxis and prolonging quiescence. This paper was presented at a colloquium on management of postharvest disease resistance in horticultural crops held in Pennsylvania, USA on 23 Jul., 1991.
