New developments in modified atmosphere packaging and surface coatings for fruits.

ABSTRACT

Research trends are described, including the development of interactive films which sense the changing internal packaging environment and modified humidity packaging; the incorporation of fungicides into films; mathematical modelling for determining the optimum parameters for a package; and effects of edible fruit coatings on fruit quality and shelf life.
