บทคัดย่อ

Registration of TEM-LD1 kleingrass germplasm.

Derived through 6 cycles of recurrent selection for rapid germination immediately following harvest, the base population of this Panicum coloratum germplasm (PI559908) was a mixture of the variety Selection 75 (75%) and OKPC-1 (25%) germplasm. TEM-LD1 was released in 1991 as a source of low postharvest seed dormancy. A germination test at 35/25 deg C and 12/12 h day/night using seed harvested during the previous week resulted in germination percentages (after 6 days) of 69% for TEM-LD1, compared with 8% for the base population. Dry matter yields averaged across 2 sites and 2 years at Temple, Texas, were 12% lower than those of Selection 75 and 1% lower than those of Verde. Winter survival scores averaged 21% lower than those of Selection 75 from 4 years of data at the same site.
