บทคัดย่อ

The influence of wet picking on postharvest diseases and disorders of avocado fruit.

Fruits from avocado trees (cultivars Fuerte and Hass) were picked when wet with rain or dew. Fruits from the same trees were picked again later the same day, as soon as they had dried. In both cultivars there was a significant increase in the incidence of lenticel damage when fruits were picked wet as opposed to dry. Fuerte fruits also showed significantly greater black cold damage and pulpspot incidence when picked wet, while vascular browning of Hass was increased by wet picking. However, no significant difference in the total percentage of fruits without any symptoms of postharvest diseases or disorders was noted between dry- and wet-picked fruits of either cultivar.
