Greenhouses in Israel: achievements and problems.

There are currently about 2000 ha of greenhouses in Israel, of which about 1300 ha are used for floriculture. Most are simple, without sophisticated means of environmental control, but new materials and equipment are becoming available. The use of various structures, covering materials, shades and reflecting curtains is discussed and the use of equipment in postharvest product handling and improvements in plant protection are also briefly considered.
