Postharvest control of diapausing two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch on fruit. I. Comparison of insecticidal soaps and spray adjuvants.

The toxicity of sodium hypochlorite, fatty acids potassium salts (Defender and Safer's insecticide concentrate), vegetable oil (Naturoil) and oxyalkylene methyl siloxane (Pulse) to diapausing individuals of Tetranychus urticae was determined in the laboratory. Pulse was the most toxic product tested and killed 99% of mites at 0.5% when 100 p.p.m. sodium hypochlorite was present in the solution. This paper was presented at a conference in Wellington, New Zealand, on 11-13 August 1992.
