Soft System Methodologies for analyzing international produce marketing systems.

The use of Soft System Methodologies (SSM) for analysing the operation of fresh produce-importing companies is presented. Two UK companies were used for the study and their operations were learned through the development of root definitions and conceptual models. Another application of SSM, for the modelling of multibusiness postharvest systems, is discussed.
