Physiological study of the storage behaviour of Kinnow orange as affected by growth regulators and fungicides.

Kinnow oranges were treated with daminozide (as Alar, 1000 and 2000 p.p.m.), CCC [chlormequat] (1000 and 1500 p.p.m.) and benomyl (as Benlate, 200 and 400 p.p.m.). Treatment reduced weight loss and size reduction and acceptable fruit quality was maintained until the end of storage (compared with control fruits which started to rot after 8 d). 2,4-D was less effective at maintaining fruit quality. Postharvest treatment with daminozide inhibited the loss in colour intensity of extracted fruit juice by slowing the loss in ascorbic acid.
