Incidence of anthracnose in ripe mangoes with hot water treatment.

Mature mangoes cv. Carabao harvested from Asau, Savaii, Western Samoa, which had been dipped in hot water (51-55 deg C) for 20 or 30 minutes and allowed to ripen, were not infected with anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata]) when fully ripe. Fruits dipped for 10 minutes had a 10.7% infection rate and untreated fruits an 88% infection rate.
