บทคัดย่อ

Modified atmosphere packaging for long-term storage of astringent persimmons.

The maximum storage life of GA3-treated persimmon fruits (cv. Triumph) in modified atmosphere (MA) packs of 0.08 mm low-density polyethylene was 8 weeks when packed under vacuum and 20 weeks when packed under 100% N2. The fruits were harvested from trees which had been sprayed with 50 p.p.m. GA3 10-14 days before harvest. The storage life could be extended to 7 months by storing GA3-treated fruit in air at -1 deg C for 3-4 months prior to storage in MA packs under N2 for 3-4 months. The accumulation of ethanol and acetaldehyde in the MA packs after several months' storage caused off-flavours to develop and brown discoloration of the peel and flesh.
