บทคัดย่อ

Biological bases of the use of cold in ornamental horticulture.

The general effects of low non-freezing temperatures are described. The beneficial effects of cold on processes such as seed germination, bud growth in woody plants and flowering in certain plants are examined, along with the mechanisms of action of cold. The injurious effects of cold including the 3 stages of chilling injury (thermal signal, lag period and irreversible development of symptoms) are described.
