Effect of postharvest application of spermidine and putrescine on storage life and fruit quality of 'Sib' Ziziphus Mauritiana fruits

In order to investigate the effects of spermidine and putrescine postharvest application on quantitative characteristics and storage life of 'sib' Ziziphus mauritiana, the present research was performed. Fruits were dipped for 5 minutes in spermidine or putrescine solutions (0.5, 1.0 and l.5 mM) and distilled water as control. Then treated fruits were stored at at 5°C and 90±5% relative humidity for 2 months. The design of experiment was complete randomized design with 4 replicates in each treatment. The results showed that, treated fruits had lower weight loss and higher total acidity, vitamin C, TSS and fruit firmness when compared with control. There were no significant differences between treated and control fruits on pH. Generally, putrescine atl.5 mM was the best treatment to maintaining of qualitative characteristics of Ziziphus fruits.
