Gladiolus is one of the most important floral bulbs that has interested people in the entire world because of the variety in colours and shapes of the flowers. One of the main considerations in culture of this cut flower is increasing its vaselife. Recently essences of medical plants are used widely to increase the shelf-life of fruits and flowers. This research has been done for comparing the effects of different plant essences on post harvest life of the Gladiolus. For this case, Gladiolus c.v. Holland pink flowers were treated with essences of Rosmarinus officinalis L, Origanum vulgare and Teucrium polium, each one at three concentration (1, 3 and 5 mg/L). Efficiency of treatments was evaluated on flowers life and some quantitative and qualitative (the percent of opening and wilting of flowers, vase- life, fresh weight, dry weight and solution uptake) in 3 weeks have been recorded. The results showed desirable effects of plant essence in improving vase-life of Gladiolus. Origanum vulgare (1 mg/L) had much effect in improvement of post harvest quality, decreased wilting and longest vase-life (12 days).
