Using Rice Husk Ash for Developing Strength of Adobe
This study aims to investigate the compressive strength and the bending strength (or Modulus of rupture) of the adobe brick mixing with rice husk ash. The rice husk ash is added by following contents: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 by the total weight of the clay. In addition, the ratio of rice hulk is 1: 0.5 by volume of the clay and the water ratio is 1: 1 by weight of the clay. In testing process, the adobe bricks are cast in sizing of 10 x 15 x 30 cm and dried for 48 hours. After that, put the adobe bricks into the sun-dried environment for 14 days and 28 days. By the testing results at 28 days, the edge wise compressive strengths are 1.10, 1.15, 1.17, 1.34, 1.37 and 1.44 ksc, the flat wise compressive strengths are 0.96, 1.04, 1.02, 1.04, 1.09
