Management of static export trial of Indonesian mango
Indonesian sea transportation export to Abu Dhabi has been faced by massive rotten mangoes arrived at destination as reported by exporters during period of 2005 - 2006. To overcome the problems, some institutions under the department of agriculture conduct an export trial on mangoes cv. Gedong originated from West Java applied the action of SCM system. The research was typical of action research with the scale being used was planned close to the real transportation procedure since there are considered many laboratory type of research being done in past. The research sequences were desk study, technical workshops, laboratory type of experiments (4 treatments, total 300 kg of mangoes), and static trial up to 2 tonnes (single sequence techniques) of mangoes. Laboratory experiment produced excellent recommendation, but when followed by bigger static trial the product performance of the mangoes was not optimum. This paper will review the management of the trial both positive and negative for future use. The role of research, extensions, association, practitioners will be reviewed.
