A batch of maize naturally conterminated with FB was treated with either water or different concentrations NaCl in water by immersing for 5 min and removing the upper buoyant fractions were analysed for FB1.With water alone, up to 74% of the toxon was removed in the buoyant layer. A solution of 30% NaCl and above was effectively used for physical separation of fumonisin contaminated maize. Maximum effetiveremoval was 86% with a saturated NaCl solution.
