A total of 180 samples of poultry feeds were collected during 1996 and 1997 from different factories in the south of the province of Cordoba, Argentina, and examined for the occurrence of Penicillium and Aspergillus group species and aflatoxin producion by the Aspergillus section flavi group. When cultured on autoclaved rice kernels, 21 / 45 A. flavus isolates produced aflatoxins. Of these, 11 produced both AFB1 and AFB2 and 10 produced only AFB1. Half of the A.parasiticus strains were toxingenic and 10% of these strains produced all of the aflatoxins.
