บทคัดย่อ
A total of 200 plastic containers were used for keeping tuna on drift gill net vessels in Songkhla Province.The container was a stack/nest type with outside measurements 640 mm long by 416 mm wide with a height of 273 mm and its volume was equivalent to 46 litres.The results of the trial were described as follows:
1)The size and capacity of the container were reported to be suitable for handling tuna on board vessels as well as on land transport.
2)Tuna kept in containers were proved to be superior in quality to tuna stowed in bulk at the same period of storage.
3)Tuna kept in all containers were sold as good quality fish with the same price as good quality tuna of the catch.Tuna kept at the bottom of the fish hold by bulk storage become as bad quality fish and had to be sold to fish meal plants with the price of 2-3 baht per kilogram while fish in containers were sold with the price of 12-35 baht per kilogram depending on the season.
4)Cost and benefit return on the use of tuna containers were estimated and proved that the handling of tuna on board vessel by the use of containers would be effective and economical.
