1-MCP and Chilling-Induced Ethylene Biosynthesis in Apple Fruit

In this study, we investigated whether chilling induces ethylene synthesis in Braeburn apple during cool O2 - O2 storage and subsequent warming O2 . O2 We then used O2 1- O2 MCP O2 (1- O2 methylcyclopropene O2 ) O2 as a tool to investigate whether chilling O2 - O2 induced ethylene is regulated by the ethylene response pathway O2 . O2 Results showed that a stimulation of ethylene synthesis in Braeburn apple during subsequent warming after chilling O2 . O2 This induction was correlated with increases in expression of genes for ACC synthase O2 ( O2 ACS O2 ) O2 and ACC oxidase O2 ( O2 ACO O2 ). O2 The stimulatory effects depended on the length of the cooling period O2 . 1- O2 MCP strongly inhibited ethylene biosynthesis in fruit stored at O2 20 O2 ° O2 C and O2 0 O2 ° O2 CO2 . O2 This inhibitory effect can be partially recovered in fruit stored at O2 0 O2 ° O2 C, but not at O2 20 O2 ° O2 CO2 . O2 Therefore, the chilling O2 - O2 induced ethylene rise was dependent on the ethylene biosynthetic pathway found by CO2 . O2 Yang O2 . O2 O2
